Station petition handed in to Commons

I have handed in a 1,750 name petition to the House of Commons from the Friends of Heaton Chapel Station who are campaigning tirelessly for disabled access on both platforms. The petition will now be passed on to the Department for Transport. As one of the busiest stations in Greater Manchester it is a disgrace that it doesn’t have suitable disabled access. The Friends of Heaton Chapel say the station is not accessible on both platforms for those in wheelchairs or with restricted mobility and want a new ramp put in. The petition calls for an urgent feasibility study and demands the station is given greater priority for improvement.

Ann with Clyde Raine, Chairman of the Friends group.
