Press Release December 14th 2017 – MP calls for Dating League Tables

14th December 2017 

Ann Coffey has called for a star rated league table to show how safe dating and social media websites are to use and how many complaints they receive.

She said this was urgently needed as the number of people being deceived online has soared.

Ms Coffey is campaigning for a new law to make it illegal to create a false identity online and pretend to be someone else to form a romantic relationship – known as ‘catfishing’.

Stockport MP Ann Coffey visited Our Lady’s Catholic Primary school in Edgeley as part of UK Parliament Week 2017 (13 – 19th November).  This year over 900 primary schools throughout the country took part in UK Parliament Week, which is now in its seventh year.

Press release 13 October – Stockport Talking Newspaper 40th Anniversary

Stockport Talking Newspaper interview with Ann Coffey

Stockport MP Ann Coffey has recorded an interview for the Stockport Talking Newspaper which is sent weekly to blind or visually impaired people in Stockport.

The Talking Newspaper, a local charity which celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2017, helps keep blind or visually impaired people in touch with local events. Each week, volunteers record one hour of news from the Stockport Express. This is sent out on a memory stick to over 140 “listeners” – all of whom get a free portable memory stick player designed for the visually impaired. There is also a magazine-style recording with talks, music, advice from RNIB and items of general interest.
