In the 21st century, a good IT system is essential for every police force to record and share information and intelligence.
On the 9th July Greater Manchester Police launched their new IT system called iOPS, 19 months late, it has taken nearly 5 years to design by Capita. It has cost millions of pounds.
The new system which GMP is the first police force to use is a month later still posing problems for officers.

FIND A WAY OUT – THE MESSAGE TO VICTIMS BEING GROOMED TO COMMIT CRIME
Police, local authorities, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, young people and an MP have launched a campaign to stop criminal gangs from grooming children and vulnerable adults to commit crime.
The campaign, known as ‘Trapped’, aims to raise awareness of criminals who are grooming and exploiting children and young adults to commit crime on their behalf.
MP supports campaign to protect shopworkers from violence, threats and abuse
Stockport MP Ann Coffey has joined with the members of the retail union Usdaw to call for an end to abuse in the workplace. As part of the Freedom From Fear Campaign, which aims to help prevent violence, threats and abuse directed at retail staff, Ann visited the Coop store in Edgeley to highlight the problems faced by staff in the run-up to Christmas.
