I was delighted to be invited back to Stockport Academy in Cheadle Heath to hear about the students’ achievements over the year, which are truly impressive. They put in so much hard work and are a real credit to the excellent teaching and learning at the Academy.

Big increases in reporting of child sexual exploitation in Greater Manchester

The scale of child sexual exploitation in Greater Manchester is exposed today in a new report by campaigning MP Ann Coffey.

Better training and awareness amongst the police and the public has led to significant increases in reporting offences, identification of victims and offenders and intelligence tip-offs.

Stockport Express Column – February 2015

During this Parliament I have worked hard to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation and to change the law to help protect children.

The Serious Crime Bill, which is going through Parliament, is an opportunity to remove all references to child prostitution from legislation, and I spoke in the House of Commons in January to press for amendments to the Bill which would consign this outdated term to the history books.
