On 14th December 1918 women voted for the first time in Britain, and in the same year, the first female MP was elected. To commemorate this historic occasion, all 209 female MPs had portraits taken by female photographers. The exhibition is currently on display in Portcullis House on the Parliamentary Estate.
Phoebe Kiely took my portrait at Stockport Market pictured above.
As well as the portraits, a statue of suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst is being unveiled today in Manchester and will be on display in St Peter’s Square, Manchester.
