Respect for Shopworkers Campaign Edgeley Coop

MP supports campaign to protect shopworkers from violence, threats and abuse

Stockport MP Ann Coffey has joined with the members of the retail union Usdaw to call for an end to abuse in the workplace. As part of the Freedom From Fear Campaign, which aims to help prevent violence, threats and abuse directed at retail staff, Ann visited the Coop store in Edgeley to highlight the problems faced by staff in the run-up to Christmas.

Ann Coffey said:

“Too often shop workers are confronted threats, verbal abuse and even violence whilst serving the public. There is a lot the police could do to pursue repeat offenders, and it is also important for people to keep their cool and respect shopworkers, especially in the lead up to the busy Christmas shopping period”.
